German automobile manufacturers count on wenglor’s OLEB series Light Curtains in their production systems. In order to assure that each and every part is positioned at exactly the right place during the automobile assembly process, employees are provided with important assembly instructions from the Pick-to-Light Light Curtains. As opposed to conventional systems, wenglor’s solution provides an intuitive arrow signal in addition to a multicolored light signal. And thus the assembly employee receives the information he needs in order to remove the right quantity of the right part at the right time from the storage boxes. And this is by no means a simple task in light of the fact that a car consists of up to 10,000 individual parts, and that these are stocked in accordance with the chaotic storage principle. What appears to be an incomprehensible muddle at first glance is transformed by means of wenglor’s Light Curtains into a clearly structured process which eliminates sources of error and makes assembly extremely simple for anyone. Between eight and fifteen of these queries are executed per production line. “Thanks to our flexible products and our comprehensive technical services, we’ve been able to ideally fulfill the customer’s individual requirements”, says wenglor key account manager Maurice Karr. “Pick-to-Light Light Curtains not only help to simplify complex work sequences, they also make automobile production safer and more reliable.”
