HK Präzisionstechnik GmbH has been counting on wenglor’s sensor technology for years where monitoring of their paternoster circulating air ovens is concerned. Plastic composite components such as tailgates, interior trim, wheel covers and underbodies used in the automotive industry are manufactured in the special production lines. The thermoplastic composite parts (organic sheet) have to be heated up in the oven to temperatures as high as 300° C, in order to ensure precise and reliable forming. The extremely high temperature range is an enormous challenge for the monitoring of internal processes by means of optical sensor technology. For years now, wenglor has been supplying a suitable solution: specially fabricated fiber-optic cables make reliable detection possible in the interior under extreme temperature conditions, although the actual sensor technology is installed externally. Checking for the presence of objects in the paternoster systems is conducted by means of optical sensors. This makes it possible to unequivocally determine which motion sequences are being run at any time. “This assures reliable contactless monitoring of the entire mechanical system in our circulating air ovens”, says HK managing director Xaver Mayer. “After the specified temperature range for semi-finished goods had been increased from 200 to 300° C over the last two years, wenglor developed a product based on specially fabricated type 301-239-104
